The Dallas Cowboys have been looking to bulk up their defense this off-season. While acquiring DT Kenny Clark and DT Quinnen Williams last season, the Cowboys were very much in the edge market via free agency and trade after failing to acquire super star edge in Maxx Crosby from the Raiders.
Today, Dallas found their edge rusher in Rashad Gary. Acquiring Gary from the Green Bay Packers for a 2027 fourth round pick. A report came out earlier this week that the Packers were looking to trade or release Rashad Gary for cap purposes and struck a deal with who seems to be a popular trade partner in Dallas.
Gary is set to make $18 million in 2026 off of his original four-year, $96 million deal he signed in 2023. He is currently signed through 2027. This trade creates $11 million in cap space for Packers.
Rashad Gary finished the 2025 season with 16 games played, 7.5 sacks, 7 TFLs, and 1 forced fumble. But this trade doesn't take the Cowboys out of the edge market. Rumors are swirling that the Cowboys have been looking at Bengals free agent edge rusher Trey Hendrickson. Hendrickson, 31, is looking to cash in on a huge deal during free agency. Dallas could also go with a familiar face in Jadeveon Clowney to pair up with Gary too.
