The Dolphins Trade Five Time Pro Bowler To The Jets.

The New York Jets made their second off-season trade today, acquiring five time pro bowler, Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. The Jets address a major need in their secondary with both starting safeties in Tony Adams and Andre Cisco set to be free agents.

The Jets will send a 2026 seventh round pick from the Chargers in exchange for Fitzpatrick. Minkah Fitzpatrick played 14 games in 2025 with the Dolphins accounting for 1 int, 6 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack, 4 TFLs, and 82 tackles.

Along with the trade, New York agreed to a 3 year extension with Fitzpatrick worth $40 million. Minkah had one year left on his original deal worth $15.6 million.

The Dolphins originally drafted Fitzpatrick in 2018 with the 11th pick but traded him to the Steelers a year later. During his six seasons in Pittsburgh, he was named to five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams. He would then sign a deal to make him the highest paid safety in the league in 2022 worth 4 year $73.6 million. In eight NFL seasons, he has 690 tackles, 21 career interceptions and six forced fumbles.

The New York Jets were the first team in NFL history to not record an interception during a regular season. Minkah will not only help the turn over problem but fill a huge hole at the safety position with much needed veteran leadership in a young struggling locker room.
